Erectile dysfunction (ED) is when a man has trouble getting or maintaining an erection long or firm enough for sex. 51.3% of Singaporean men, above the age of 30, experience some form of ED (Tan et al., 2003), making it one of the most common sexual health issues here.
ANSWERED BY DR KEVIN CHUA, Clinical Lead at Noah (Singapore)
ED can be caused by physiological, psychological reasons or a combination of both. Common physiological causes include cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity and aging. These conditions are directly affected by blood circulation in the body, and blood flow to the penis is what makes for healthy, hard erections.
Common psychological causes include depression, anxiety and stress disorders, which affects overall mood, libido and sexual satisfaction. Therapy may be a good method of treatment in these cases. For more details, do read our post here.
ED treatment with Noah can include oral prescription medication, therapy or a mix of both. To find out what may be causing your ED, complete an online medical evaluation here and have a doctor speak with you.

Nobody’s perfect. Sometimes we let ourselves down. It’s the same with ED. On occasion, you may have difficulty getting or maintaining an erection, and that is completely normal.
But, if the problem persists, if you let yourself down more than you can count, or if it is affecting your relationship with your partner, or disrupting your overall well-being, then we recommend you speak to a doctor to assess the issue and get the treatment you may need. At Noah, this can be done in minutes.

According to the Singapore Urological Association, the recommended oral treatment for ED is phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitors. PDE-5 inhibitors work to increase the rate of blood flow to the penis, which causes it to remain erect (Goldstein et al., 1998). At Noah, we carry 3 as-needed prescription pills, and 1 daily prescription pill for ED treatment. Find out more about these medications here.

Like every medication, you may or may not experience side effects. Common side effects for ED medication include facial flushing, dizziness, headache, stomach ache, runny nose or nasal congestion and body aches, including back pain.
For second-gen ED meds, reports have shown that men experience fewer side effects, due to a new scientific formula. Read more about this second-gen pill here.
